Dieter Geernaert obtained his Law Degree from the University of Antwerp in 1997 and read European Law (LL.M) at the University of London in 1999.
He has been a lawyer admitted to the Bar since 1997.
He started his career at Allen Overy’s Intellectual Property practice in Antwerp, Brussels and London, until he went on to create his own law firm in 2007. Dieter Geernaert joined Praetica Antwerp in 2013.
He focuses on Commercial Law in general, Intellectual Property and Unfair Commercial Practices, often for clients in the creative industry. He is also particularly interested in Media Law.
Dieter Geernaert is visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Applied Economics of the University of Antwerp.
Dieter Geernaert was a guest lecturer in Copyright and Media Law at the VLEKHO Business School (Brussels).
He currently is a CEPINA acknowledged third party decider to rule on “.be” domain name disputes. He also holds the professional competency certificate to perform a judicial function as Judge.
