Valérie Vandegaart began her career as member of the Brussels Bar in 1998. She devoted herself immediately to public and administrative law, including environmental law and urban planning .
From 2003 to 2013, she was company lawyer in the energy sector, first at Elia System Operator, the electricity transmission network operator, then at EDF Luminus. She acquired specific and operational experience in energy law, especially in matters related to regulated activities, market mechanisms and renewable energy. She is particularly familiar with topics such as balancing, network access, trading, green certificates, regulated tariffs, ancillary services, wind farms and “smart grid”.
With an extensive knowledge of the operational reality of regulated market operators, Valerie Vandegaart provides legal advice combining theoretical excellence and practical relevance, especially in sustainable development, in the fields of energy and environment.
She speaks and writes French, Dutch and English and has a good knowledge of Spanish.
